Conservancy Safaris is proud of its involvement in the recent translocations of black rhino within the Kunene Region.

It is policy not to mention specific locations of where rhino were moved. The operation was driven by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, IRDNC, SRT and the Millennium Challenge Account. Incredibly, a helicopter was used to sling rhinos in and out of remote inaccessible areas.

This whole event is remarkable on two fronts:  firstly, that thanks to decades of community conservation, Namibia has sufficient black rhino to be able to re-establish them in their former range and secondly, that residents living in former rhino habitat are keen to welcome them back.  Conservancy and NGO such as IRDNC and SRT will be carefully monitoring these endangered animals in their areas.

With financial support from the same Swedish investors who have loaned Conservancy Safaris its start-up capital, IRDNC provided a number of new water holes for the use of rhino and other wildlife in the recipient conservancies.
