Few would think that they would have real shopping opportunities when setting off on an adventure with KCS into the remote north-western Kunene Region.

But shopaholics can relax!  There is a variety of interesting arts and crafts on offer along the way:  baskets woven by Himba women from palm fronds, intricately made bracelets and necklaces, perfume bottles, carvings, spears and wooden Himba pillows, each item a work of art.

Even more exhilarating is meeting and interacting with the craftsmen and women, engaging with the old Himba man living on a hill in the middle of nowhere and learning how he has mastered the art of producing precision made spear heads with rudimentary tools.

A milk pot hollowed out of the trunk of a commiphora tree is as unique as the craftsman who created it!
